3rd Grade: UNICEF
Welcome to Trick or Treat for UNICEF, a Service-Learning project that teaches students about their global peers and their problems while fostering a sense of responsibility and compassion for others. Each year, third grade students in the four BHUSD elementary schools collect money the week of Halloween. They solicit other grade levels to join them in their collecting. The students sort and add up all the donations collected as part of their math lessons. Their reflections and speeches to other grade levels are part of their language arts lessons.
