Success Story: Spanish Stories
BHUSD Service-Learning: Learn and Serve. BHHS has had a relationship with Albion Street Elementary School for many, many years through the annual Christmas Program where high school students entertain and give gifts to the elementary students. Lucie Hinden's Spanish 3 Honors class decided to further this relationship by writing plays and shows in Spanish for the students at Albion Street. The BHHS students then traveled to Albion Street School and entertained the students in their native language with their cultural stories and fables. 
Reflections Eliza: "This is a very fun way for us to use our Spanish to help others." Jason: "I am using my Spanish education in a better way. I am not just learning the language, but I am putting it to a better use." Rachel: "We are helping the younger students learn about their culture." Damone: "It is an interactive way to put what we learned into action!" |
