Grade K Curriculum: PATH This Service-Learning project, which coincides with the celebration of 100th day of school (usually occurring in February), incorporates Math, Social Studies and Literature standards. 1st Grade Curriculum: Operation School Bell OSB wants to make sure that children can go to school and receive an education - because they are appropriately dressed and feel comfortable. 2nd Grade Curriculum: PATH People Assisting the Homeless have helped over 14,000 people find work, save money, secure housing and empower their lives. PATH is a non-profit community organization whose mission is to break the cycle of homelessness. 3rd Grade Curriculum: UNICEF Trick or Treat for UNICEF [is] a Service-Learning project that teaches students about their global peers and their problems while fostering a sense of responsibility and compassion for others. 4th Grade Curriculum: BookEnds BookEnds is a non-profit organization that works with BHUSD to recycle books and place them in needy schools and shelters all over Southern California. 5th Grade Curriculum: Jump Rope for Heart Aligned with the California State Standards, Jump-Rope-For-Heart is designed to teach fifth-grade students about blood circulation and movement while simultaneously raising money for the American Heart Association. 6th Grade Curriculum: Adopt-a-Whale In this Service to the Environment, students study the ecosystem of whales, becoming more aware that whales are the "barometer of the health of the ocean." 8th Grade Curriculum: Camp Heartland Camp Heartland is the charitable non-profit organization that runs camps for children impacted by HIV/AIDS. High School Grade Curriculum: Project Recycle Project Recycle is a Service-Learning project focusing on students accepting responsibility for the caretaking of their environment. |
